Industry Course in Cinematography

Overview

Cinematography is a craft; a craft that takes a lifetime to master. Cinematography is a craft that is in a constant state of change. Change is driven by new products, new technology, but more than all of those, the pressure on those practicing the craft to push out the “envelope”. Like all crafts there are facts and formulas; the “science” to learn. And there  is the “art”, which is harder and takes longer to learn.

This course is designed to explore the aesthetics, techniques, and technology of cinematography and how it is currently practiced in the television and motion picture industry. Some of the topics of study will include (1) the style and look of camera work present in today’s films and television (2) the style, aesthetics, and techniques of several genres and their distinguishing characteristics (3) composition, movement, and framing (4) cameras, film and video, their care and handling (5) film stock and the relationship of the lab/transfer house and the cinematographer. Class meetings will consist of lectures, group discussions, inclass demonstrations, viewing of contemporary films, shooting, and reviewing of student projects

By entering this short course, you will receive the basic training in filmmaking. 

Write your own screenplay, know and learn about the basic use of camera, lenses, lighting, and audio recording devices. Dig the basic theories of editing and apply them. All of this training will be using the latest equipments and softwares from the film industry. 

This short course will run for 6 weeks with 2 classes in each week.
