‘Touch’ – A Collaborative Motion Graphic

Posted by:

‘Touch’ is Sabikah Alma Jacinda’s (Ochi) Final Project. She is a 6th semester student of SAE Indonesia Animation programme. This work is the result of a collaboration between Ochi and his friends. Ochi used his visual model from Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam and took references from Maneki Neko, patrick studio’s production. The backsound of this video was assisted by 2 Audio SAE Indonesia students, Satya Prabu and Ivan Lowan.

Departing from’Connection’ theme, Ochi lowers it in 4 keywords: Collaboration, Communication, Touch, and Physical. By these 4 words Ochi formulates the premise: Physical connection is the most intimate form of connection. That is, by making physical contact, we can recognize the emotions of our interloves; give us more information about what they really want to say.

Touch is a very intimate form of communication; and can help express what words can’t express. But like two sides of a sword’s eye, a person’s touch can be an extension of good will or bad intentions.

Ochi realized the hand gestures in the video correlated with the application of Physical Distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are advised to stay home; may not come into contact with others or touch objects. This is what inspired me to create this collaborative work,” ochi said, “At least in this work we can come into contact without endangering ourselves and others.”
